Truvada (emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate) is for use in combination with other anti-HIV agents to treat HIV-1 infection in adults. Truvada contains two medicines, Emtriva (emtricitabine) and Viread (tenofovir disoproxil fumarate) combined in one tablet that you take only once a day with or without food.Emtriva and Viread have each been studied as part of multidrug regimens. Clinical studies using Truvada or using Emtriva and Viread in combination are ongoing.
