In man, Tambocor (flecainide) produces a dose-related decrease in intracardiac conduction in all parts of the heart with the greatest effect on the His-Purkinje system (H-V conduction). Effects upon atrioventricular (AV) nodal conduction time and intra-atrial conduction times, although present, are less pronounced than those on ventricular conduction velocity. Tambocor (flecainide) does not usually alter heart rate, although bradycardia (slow) and tachycardia (fast) have been reported occasionally. Tambocor (flecainide) infrequently produces very serious, new irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias). Therefore, Tambocor (flecainide) should be used in carefully selected patients to treat life-threatening irregular heartbeats only. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more information. Tambocor (flecainide) may be taken without regard to meals. Tambocor (flecainide) works best when there is a constant level of the drug in your body.
