Synthroid

Synthroid is a prescription medication that contains a synthetic thyroid hormone that is identical to one of the hormones produced by the thyroid gland. Synthroid is prescribed to treat a variety of conditions which are a result or result in a lower than optimal quantity of the hormone that is supplied by Synthroid. Synthroid is also used in conjunction with surgery and radioactive iodine therapy in the management of certain types of thyroid cancer.

Synthroid Side Effects

Notify your physician if you expreience rapid heartbeat, chest pain, shortness of breath, leg cramps, headache, nervousness, irritability, sleeplessness, tremors, change in appetite, weight gain or loss, heat intolerance, fever, changes in menstrual periods, hives or skin rash, or any other unusual medical event.

Synthroid Precautions

Notify your physician if you become pregnant while taking synthroid. It is likely your dosage will have to be increased while you are pregnanat. Hair loss may occur during the first few months of treatment with synthroid, but is usually temporary. Synthroid should not be used as part of therapy in a weight control program.
