Avalide

Avalide is a combination of two drugs that are used to reduce high blood pressure. Avalide belongs to a class of medications called angiotensin II blockers and helps to lower blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic or "water pill" that helps control blood pressure by getting rid of excess salt and water. This medication is most often prescribed when other drugs have been found not to be effective or to have side effects, and when a person's blood pressure is stabilized on irbesartan and hydrochlorothiazide taken individually. Avalide Side Effects

The following side effects may go away as your body becomes used to the medicine; check with your doctor if they continue or become bothersome: Less common side effects of Avalide include anxiety or nervousness, cold-like symptoms, belching, heartburn, and stomach discomfort, diarrhea, headache, muscle or bone pain, unusual tiredness, increased sensitivity to the sun, and cough. Rare and potentially dangerous side effects of Avalide include dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, difficulty breathing or swallowing, hoarseness, swelling of the face or tongue, unusual bleeing or bruisng, unusual rash or pinpoint red spots on the skin, tightening of the throat.
