Proscar

Proscar is a prescription medication known as an androgen hormone inhibitor. Proscar is used to aid in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) which is the swelling of the prostate. Although BPH is associated with prostate cancer, there is no direct correlation between the two. However, one should still have regular checkups to determine if BPH does become malignant.

Proscar Side Effects

Proscar is generally well tolerated, but side effects do occassionally occur. Side effects of Proscar include a change in sexual function of breast enlargement. If they persist or are bothersome, check with your doctor. Contact your physician immediately if you experience skin rash or swelling of the lips, as they may represent toxicity.
