Metformin Side Effects

Metformin is generally well tolerated, but can rarely cause a condition called lactic acidosis, which can be fatal. If you experience unusual fatigue, muscle pain, breathing trouble, or rapid breathing, or an unusually slow or rapid heart beat, contact your health care provider immediately. Minor side effecst from Metformin include upset stomach, nausea, diarrhea. These side effects will pass as your body adjusts to the medication. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your physician promptly.
