Citro-Mag is used as a laxative or purgative, for preparation of the colon for X-ray examination, or to treat constipation.
Dosage/Directions for use
Laxative: 1/2 to 1/4 bottle for adults.
Purgative: 1 bottle for adults. For children, dosing is done by body weight:
12.5 kg: 60 mL
25 kg: 100 mL
30 kg: 150 mL
35 kg: 200 mL
Serve Citro-Mag cool for best taste. Drink one full glass of water (250 mL) every hour for 4-6 hours before and 3 hours after using Citro-Mag.
Citro-mag should not be used by people with:
undiagnosed abdominal pain
nausea or vomiting
hemorrhage
fever
known or suspected intestinal obstruction
poor kidney function (may cause excessive levels of magnesium in the blood)
Side effects: Citro-Mag may cause abdominal cramping or nausea. If you notice rectal bleeding, or if the product does not seem to work, this may be a sign of a more serious condition. Consult your doctor.
Proper use: Use only as directed. Excessive or long-term use may cause dependence for bowel function. Do not take any type of laxative for more than one week, unless directed by your physician. Do not use as a purgative unless directed to do so by your doctor.
Drug interactions: Do not take Citro-Mag within 2 hours of other medications as it may reduce their effectiveness. Magnesium salts may form complexes with tetracycline, leading to decreased absorption.
Keep the bottle tightly closed. Store in the refrigerator for better taste.
