Effects - How it works in the body
Zerit belongs to the family of drugs called systemic antivirals which known as anti-HIV medicines or nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor or NRTI medications and commonly used for the treatment and prevention of the infections of HIV, which causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Zerit used along with other medicines to manage human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Actually Zerit prevent cells infected by HIV from producing new virus. Zerit may reduce the amount of HIV in the blood and increase the number of CD4 cells (T-cells) in the blood. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) virus invades cells of the immune system, particularly the white blood cells that called also CD4 T-helper lymphocytes. These cells generally activate other cells in the immune system to fight infection. Once the virus is inside the CD4 T-cell it multiplies or producing numerous copies of itself. Part of the process of viral multiplication involves the conversion of the virus genetic material, RNA, into DNA. This is achieved by a compound essential to the virus, known as reverse transcriptase. Reverse transcriptase is a compound known as an enzyme. Zerit works by blocking the action of this enzyme, thereby interfering with the conversion of viral RNA into DNA. Zerit stops the virus from multiplying. There is no cure for HIV, but Zerit is one of most important medicines that slow the progression of the disease from HIV to AIDS.
