Symptoms include sneezing, itching and watery eyes, runny nose, burning palate and throat. These seasonal allergies have been known to trigger asthma. Singulair is indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis in adults and children 6 years of age and older.

The production of Cysteinyl leukotriene and receptor occupation are correlated with the pathophysiology of asthma, including airway edema, smooth muscle constriction, and altered cellular activity associated with the inflammatory process, which contribute to the signs and symptoms of asthma.
Accolate/Zafirlukast works well in the treatment of asthma, but Accolate starts working only after 3 to 14 days of therapy. Therefore, it is advisable that Accolate should not be used for treating an acute asthmatic attack in which prompt effectiveness is needed.
