| Diovan is prescribed as a daily treatment to effectively lower blood pressure. Diovan works by blocking a hormone that causes your arteries to constrict - an action that can cause high blood pressure. Diovan is uaually taken once a day, and can be taken with or without food. The HCT component in Diovan HCT includes hydrochlorothiazide that causes water to move out of the body and thereby reduces your blood volume.
