Safety and effectiveness of Lialda (Mesalamine) has been established for up to 8 weeks. Before you start Lialda
Tell your doctor if you:
-Are allergic to sulfasalazine, salicylates or mesalamine
-Have kidney disease or liver disease
-Are pregnant, intend to become pregnant or are breast-feeding
-Are taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
-Are taking azathioprine or mercaptopurine
The most commonly reported side effects of Lialda (Mesalamine) are:
Headache
Flatulence
Tell your doctor immediately if you experience these symptoms while taking Lialda (Mesalamine):
-abdominal pain
-cramping
-bloody diarrhea
-headache
-rash
