Lialda/Mezavant (Mesalamine) for the induction of remission in patients with active, mild to moderate ulcerative colitis, is the only FDA-approved, oral once-daily prescription drug. The safety and effectiveness of Lialda/Mezavant (Mesalamine) have been established in two 8-week trials.Lialda/Mezavant contains mesalamine, the active ingredient in other ulcerative colitis medications, and has MMX technology.
All other oral mesalamine medications need to be taken 2 to 4 times per day. Lialda/Mezavant (Mesalamine) is taken just once a day.
