Product Information

Colchicine-Probenecid is an antigout agent and uricosuric combination used to treat gout and gouty arthritis. Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this medicine. INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. DO NOT TAKE Colchicine-Probenecid if you are also taking salicylates. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR Colchicine-Probenecid DOSE OR CONDITION may be needed if you are taking methotrexate, dyphylline, or zidovudine. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about taking Colchicine-Probenecid.

IT MAY TAKE SEVERAL MONTHS for Colchicine-Probenecid to work. Do not stop using Colchicine-Probenecid without checking with your doctor. DO NOT SHARE Colchicine-Probenecid with others for whom it was not prescribed. DO NOT USE Colchicine-Probenecid for other health conditions. Keep Colchicine-Probenecid out of the reach of children. IF USING Colchicine-Probenecid FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, be sure to obtain refills before your supply runs out.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor. This includes aspirin or products containing aspirin. FOR WOMEN: Colchicine-Probenecid HAS BEEN SHOWN TO CAUSE HARM to the human fetus. IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using Colchicine-Probenecid during pregnancy. Colchicine-Probenecid IS EXCRETED IN BREAST MILK. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE BREAST-FEEDING while you are using Colchicine-Probenecid, check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby. IF YOU HAVE DIABETES MELLITUS, Colchicine-Probenecid may cause false test results with some urine glucose tests. Check with your doctor before adjusting the dose of your diabetes medicine or changing your diet.

Follow the directions for using Colchicine-Probenecid provided by your doctor. IF Colchicine-Probenecid UPSETS YOUR STOMACH, take it with food, milk, or antacids. DRINK PLENTY OF LIQUID, 6 to 8 glasses (8 ounces each) daily. STORE Colchicine-Probenecid at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF Colchicine-Probenecid, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Colchicine-Probenecid SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include loss of appetite, nausea, sore gums, headache, or dizziness. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience skin rash, sore throat, fever, severe diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain, tiredness, weakness, numbness or tingling, or unusual bleeding or bruising. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
